
INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE/INTERPRETER - American Sign Language (ASL) at Covina-Valley Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
THE VACANCY: There are several part-time/full-time, 6 - 8 HOURS A DAY, school year, permanent positions for grades K-12. This recruitment will also be used to develop an eligibility list to fill future part-time vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Six months of full-time experience or its equivalent, including paid, volunteer, or family-related experience, as an interpreter for the deaf using oral and manual communication. Must meet the State Board of Education standards by obtaining one of the following state-mandated certificates: Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (Level 4 or above), NAD Certification (Level 4 or above), Certification by the Cued Speech TECUnit, or Educational Sign Skills Evaluation Interpreters (ESSE-1) certificates. Applicants must submit with the application all of the following: a high school diploma or GED, an AA Degree or official transcripts with a minimum of 48 units, required state-mandated certificate, and proof of a valid First Aid/CPR training certificate. First Aid/CPR certificates obtained on the Internet will not be accepted.
