Requirements / Qualifications

Comments and Other Information
Under general supervision, assist in the safe transportation of educationally and/or physically disabled students, perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist in providing safe transportation for physically and mentally handicapped students;
• Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward special education students;
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with adults and children;
• Assist with the loading and unloading of students;
• Monitor, observe and control student behavior according to approved policies and procedures;
• Understand and relate to children with special needs;
• Learn to operate harnesses, tie downs and various adaptive and assistive devices;
• Understand and follow oral and written directions;
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
• Observe health and safety regulations;
• Maintain routine records related to work performed.
