ADMINISTRATIVE CLERK II

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Perform a wide variety of clerical and typing work related to the function to which assigned; order supplies as assigned. E
Type letters, reports, bulletins, charts, curriculum guides, handbooks, requisitions, contracts and other materials from rough draft copy, marginal notes or verbal instructions. E
Compile information from various sources and type on a variety of forms; review documents for accuracy, completeness and conformance with established procedures. E
Compile and tabulate statistical data; may prepare payroll records as assigned. E
Establish and maintain files and records. E
Serve as District or school Centrex operator and/or receptionist to students, staff, parents and the general public as assigned; answer inquiries concerning standards, procedures and programs. E
Enroll new students and perform activities related to their registration, attendance, releases and transfers as assigned; post attendance, cumulative, inventory or other records on the computer system; clear student absences. E
Operate standard office machines including computer equipment and duplicating equipment; may type from dictating equipment. E
Sort and distribute mail; meter mail. E
Assist with first aid and emergencies for students; assist in maintaining student health records as required.
Supervise clerical personnel and student assistants as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Modern office practices, procedures and equipment including computer equipment. Recordkeeping techniques.
English, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Oral and written communications skills. Operation of a switchboard. Telephone techniques and etiquette.
ABILITY TO:
Perform clerical work with speed and accuracy. Make simple arithmetic calculations. Work cooperatively with others.
Understand instructions and questions and provide information in an understandable manner. Speak clearly and distinctly.
Deal tactfully and courteously with the public. Operate a Centrex switchboard. Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Type at 50 words per minute. Work independently with little direction.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Meet schedules and time lines. Maintain records and prepare reports.
Learn and interpret rules, regulations, laws and processes.
Operate a variety of office machines including computer and duplicating equipment. Spell correctly and use proper English.
Perform the essential functions of the job.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by course work in typing or clerical work and one year of responsible clerical and typing work.

Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone. Seeing to read a variety of materials.

Lifting or moving objects, normally not exceeding thirty (30) pounds.
