Location: Rancho Alamitos High School located in Garden Grove Job Summary: Are you looking for the second phase of your construction career? Want to be a mentor to high school students interested in learning the technical and professional skills involved with Skilled Trades as a future career? This opportunity allows you to share your construction/Skilled Trades knowledge and passion as a high school teacher with North Orange County ROP. (Only a high school diploma or GED is required.) This full-time position is for Construction/Skilled Trades instructor at Rancho Alamitos High School located in Garden Grove. Under the direction of an Instructional Administrator, a Regional Occupational Program (ROP) instructor provides instruction to secondary school students in competency-based, career technical education courses in order to prepare them for college and career. ROP classes are taught by instructors who have trained and worked in the industry they are teaching. Once hired, instructors must enter a teacher credential program and ROP provides additional training and coaching support. Many ROP classes provide real-world experience by placing students in work-based learning. Requirements / Qualifications
* Three (3) years of industry work experience directly related to the Construction pathway (for Credential eligibility). * High School Diploma or Equivalent is REQUIRED. * Applicant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) instructor certification from an official OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Center is desirable. * Teaching Credential: The successful candidate must qualify for or possess a California Career Technical Education (CTE) or Designated Subjects Teaching Credential: Building and Construction Trades. NOCROP will assist you in starting the credentialing process. Detailed information for obtaining a Designated Subjects Career Technical Education credential may be found at https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/designated-subjects-(cl-888). * Applicant must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
North Orange County ROP will review the applications submitted to select those candidates who appear to possess the most extensive and relevant experience or abilities for the position. Not every candidate who meets the minimum qualifications is interviewed. It is, therefore, important to ensure your application is thorough, detailed, and clear. Teaching demonstrations and interviews are normally conducted between two days and two weeks following the deadline to apply.
