Project Coordinator-Early Childhood Services (ECS)

Purpose Statement

The job of Project Coordinator-ECS is done for the purpose/s of coordinating, planning, organizing and implementing an Early Childhood Services programs and related activities;implementing and maintaining program services within established guidelines and standards.

This job reports to the Assigned Administrator/Supervisor.

 

Essential Functions

  • Attends local, state and federally sponsored meetings, workshops, and conferences related to the ongoing activities and effectiveness of ECS Services for the purpose of compiling, communicating and maintaining up-to-date information.
  • Collaborates with others (e.g. community members, administrators, personnel and outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and developing a comprehensive County-Wide Health & Nutrition plans and/or programs.
  • Contacts local distributors for food items price checking and ordering for the purpose of assisting the supervisor with the Food program responsibilities.
  • Coordinates program components, support needs and materials (e.g. nutritional grants, trainings for parents and child care providers, First Aid and CPR training for staff, etc.) for the purpose of meeting District and/or grant/program guidelines.
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. NEOP-Nutrition Education Obesity Prevention Grant, CalFresh Outreach Grant, Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP) Shasta Grant, and CCIP Tehama, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines for the grants.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of program-mandated reports for the purpose of complying with district and/or grant/program requirements.
  • Presents information to District and Community groups (e.g. program offerings, funding status, participation levels, etc.) for the purpose of promoting program, gaining feedback and complying with established internal controls.
  • Researches, writes and presents grant information (e.g. assembles ECS services, technical and information related to Early Childhood Services, etc.) for the purpose of securing alternative funding.

Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing conflict resolution techniques; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; public speaking; and facilitating meetings.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.  Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; community resources; district policies and procedures; issues relating to at-risk youth; accounting practices; age appropriate activities; business telephone etiquette; health standards; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; practicing cultural competency while working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals; and stages of child development.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; directing the use of budgeted funds within a work unit. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations.

Experience      Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education        Bachelors degree in job-related area.

Equivalency    Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree in early childhood education, nutrition education, business administration, public administration or a related field and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

The stated education and experience requirements are the preferred minimum qualifications for this job.   However, relevant experience to substitute for the education requirement and relevant education, certificates and/or licenses to substitute for the experience requirement may be allowed.
