CAFETERIA SERVER GENERAL SUMMARY Under the general direction and supervision of the Food Services Supervisor and/or designee, serves food items at lunch time and performs other duties directly related to this job description. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Serves the proper food amounts of required food components. Responsible for cleaning counters, wiping tables, and helping wash the pots and pans. Performs kitchen tasks that are assigned and works wherever needed. Works with staff to ensure a safe and organized operation of the school lunch program. Completes related tasks efficiently with quality results. Works in a safe manner following acceptable safety standards. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Ability to see for the purpose of serving food, reading printed matter, and observing students, with or without vision aids; ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels; ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation. Knowledge of good sanitation practices. Ability to control students in the serving line. Ability to maintain a cooperative attitude and maintain satisfactory working relations with others. Ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish task(s). Ability to demonstrate good eye-hand coordination on work related task(s). Professional demeanor that establishes a desirable example for children. Ability to lift/carry 58 pounds occasionally (less than 33 % of the time or 1-100 times per day); 40 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time or 100-500 times per day); 15 pounds constantly (67-100% of the time or over 500 times per day). WORKING CONDITIONS Light physical effort; may stand for extended periods of time; ability to reach in all directions, bent, twist, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and stir. Low to moderate stress level. Primarily indoor cafeteria environment. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work is predominately inside and generally provides protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. CONTACTS Daily contact with students, teachers, all school and District staff. Occasional contact with parents and community members. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Dexterity and physical condition to maintain a work schedule and meet standards of physical and mental health. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each principal duty satisfactorily.
