Job Summary

Job Summary

Moderate/Severe Education Specialists work collaboratively with general education teachers and administrators to accommodate and/or modify core curriculum and/or instruct with alternative standards-based curriculum and provide evidence-based interventions for students based on IEP goals. Instruction takes place in the Least Restrictive Environment. Ed. Specialists work with a variety of students who may need specialized academic instruction for the majority of the school day. May include co-teaching, intensive small-group intervention, and/or self-contained. Willingness/desire to teach in inclusive school communities is essential.

Requirements / Qualifications

Moderate/Severe or Severely Handicapped Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. If an English learner authorization is not embedded in the credential, a separate English learner authorization, such as a CLAD permit, must be attached. In lieu of a preliminary or clear credential, we will accept a letter from a university with a CTC approved teacher credential program, stating that you have met the requirements for an Education Specialist: Extensive Support Needs internship credential.

  • Credential Copy (or letter from your unversity verifying eligibility for internship credential)
  • Letter of Introduction
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (3 letters required)
