BASIC FUNCTION: Serves as educational leader and administrator of a school, with general direction provided by area superintendent; establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and community organizations; and performs other work as required. John Bidwell Elementary School is a vital part of the Sacramento City Unified School District, serving K-6 students from south Sacramento. John Bidwells mission is to provide all students with a rigorous educational program that will challenge them and develop the skills needed to become productive members of society. John Bidwell has been a central hub of the community for many years. John Bidwell’s student body of approximately 260 students reflects the rich diversity and culture of its geographic location: 48% of its students are Hispanic/Latino, 15% African-American, and 27% Asian. 85% of students are from socio-economically disadvantaged households, 20% are English Learners, and 12.5% receive Special Education services. The Principal of John Bidwell Elementary School will need to: -Provide a kind, Caring and Collaborative Climate. -Strong Collaboration with Community Schools Partnership. -Address student performance in English and Math, especially among certain student groups such as Hispanic, African American, English Learners, and Students with Disabilities. -Engage with stakeholders including teachers, staff, and families to build an educational program that provides equity and access for all students, through SSC and ELAC. -Foster a nurturing and safe school environment through SEL, Restorative Practices, and development of MTSS. -Collaborate with the after school program to ensure an engaging and supportive Extended day school program. -Develop and implement processes to reduce chronic absences.
Requirements / Qualifications
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required, and preference will be given for additional elementary school teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience at the elementary level. Preference given to bilingual speakers, and expertise in vital programs within individual schools including, but not limited to, STEAM, Montessori, Dual Immersion, Waldorf, etc. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Hold a valid Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.

- Resume (current and up-to-date)
