BASIC FUNCTION: Serves as educational leader and administrator of a school, with general direction provided by area superintendent; establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and community organizations; and performs other work as required. Cesar Chavez Elementary School is now a TK-6 school serving a diverse population of students from various languages and backgrounds. The mission of Cesar Chavez Elementary is to develop scholars with positive character and social-emotional learning competencies. Our school offers students the opportunity to participate in the Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program, a research-based program whereby students become bilingual/bi-literate in English and Spanish. The program is designed for students who will participate from kindergarten through the 6th grade and beyond. Staff members work diligently toward building positive relationships with students and their families through their participation in the Parent-Teacher Home Visit Project and the Family-Teacher Academic Team meetings. In addition, academic support is provided to students through in-class technology-based intervention programs and before-/after-school tutoring opportunities all throughout the school year. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee, and the Parent-Teacher Organization and provide input on strengthening the school programs at Cesar Chavez. As a site, we continue to utilize a MTSS approach to provide all learners with a positive learning environment to ensure that they are successful academically, behaviorally, and socio-emotionally at school. Cesar Chavez Elementary’s student body of approximately 750 students reflects the rich diversity and culture of its geographic location:approximately 45% of its students are Hispanic/Latino, 15% African-American, and 26% Asian and 98% of students are from socio-economically disadvantaged house
Requirements / Qualifications
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree from an approved institution is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. A minimum of five years of certificated experience in public or private schools is required, and preference will be given for additional elementary school teaching experience, administrative, or supervisorial experience at the elementary level. Preference given to bilingual speakers, and expertise in vital programs within individual schools including, but not limited to, STEAM, Montessori, Dual Immersion, Waldorf, etc. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Hold a valid Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is required.

- Credential Copy (or Document Number listed on CTC/if enrolled in an intern program or preliminary program must provide letter from program verifying enrollment and expected completion of program (for intern program, letter must state you are intern eligible))
