Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Production Cook is responsible for the safe, large-scale production of scratch-cooked recipes at the Culinary Center. This role ensures meals are prepared in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards while maintaining quality and efficiency. The Production Cook collaborates closely with the Warehouse Coordinator and other food service staff to ensure food production meets demand and distribution schedules.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Minimum of two years of experience in large-scale food production, preferably in a school or institutional setting. • Experience with scratch cooking and commercial kitchen equipment required. Skills and Knowledge: • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and sanitation procedures. • Ability to follow standardized recipes and ensure consistency in meal production. • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet production deadlines. • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with efficiency and accuracy. Physical Demands & Work Environment: • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly with or without reasonable accommodation. • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting in a kitchen environment. • Exposure to varying temperatures, including hot kitchen environments, and refrigerated storage areas. Certifications, Licenses and Other Requirements: These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance. • Valid California Food Handler's Certification or ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment). • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States • Proof of automobile insurance coverage • Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance • Valid Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
