JCS was established in November 1999 (under a management organization) as a K-12 non-classroom based charter school. In 2000, the School, as a 501(c)(3) organization, incrementally began taking ownership of curriculum, instruction and assessment; finance, facilities, and business management; and organization, governance, and administration becoming a fully independent, direct funded, incorporated charter school by the 2002-2003 school year. From inception, the School was designed to meet the needs of students under served by traditional delivery systems of education or for families with a strong desire to home school. The School received an initial charter for two years and has had three additional five-year renewals.

Job Summary
The Director of Special Education provides coordination, consultation and program development for JCS-Inc. Family of Charter Schools’ special education programs. The Director of Special Education will, consistent with school policies and priorities, plan, organize, and manage human and material resources, services and operational functions for JCS-Inc. special education programs and personnel servicing these programs.
Requirements / Qualifications
Requires a current Administrative Services Credential and ONE of the following: Education Specialist Instruction Credential Pupil Personnel Services Credential Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential If you do not currently hold an appropriate California credential at the time of your application, your application will not be considered.
ONE of the following credentials are required: Administrative Services Credential Pupil Personnel Services Credential Education Specialist Credential or the equivalent Speech Language Pathologist License

The Director of Special Education provides coordination, consultation and program development for JCS Family of Charter Schools’ special education programs. The Director of Special Education will, consistent with school policies and priorities, plan, organize, and manage human and material resources, services and operational functions for special education programs and personnel servicing these programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in a field related to education or child development is required. A minimum of 3-5 years of teaching or other certificated school related experience is required. Special Education experience preferred.
Post graduate work in special education, school administration, curriculum and instruction, or a related field is a Plus
Interviews will be conducted the second & third weeks of April.
