Under the general supervision of the Director of Career and College Programs or designee, implement and coordinate activities that support the student’s education program; demonstrate extensive knowledge and practical application of behavioral principles and instructional practices, methods and strategies, including classroom management based on positive reinforcement; personal qualities of leadership, integrity, fairness, optimism, self-confidence, persistence and vitality. Employees in this position are required to have special expertise applicable to the educational program(s) assigned, including a high degree of knowledge, skill and experience in working directly with high school students and adults.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Possess a valid California Designated Subjects Vocational / Career Technical Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in Health Science & Medical Technology (Nursing Services), or be eligible to apply for said credential by meeting the following minimum requirements: - High School Diploma or GED equivalent - Three (3) years of work experience directly related to nursing, which can be full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid (possession of an advanced industry certificate or one year of full-time general education teaching experience may be used as one year of the required work experience, at the determination of the program sponsor) - One (1) year of the required work experience must be within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years, immediately preceding the issuance of the preliminary credential - Semester units of post-secondary vocational training may substitute for a maximum of two (2) of the three (3) years of required work experience (24 semester units or equivalent quarter units equals one year) - Possess a valid LVN license or RN license - One (1) year experience must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting - One year of experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs in nursing; OR proof of 24-hour California Board of Registered Nurses approved course certificate; OR transcript showing course(s) in "Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating Educational Programs in Nursing" - Current American Heart Association "Basic Life Support" (BLS) for healthcare providers or equivalent - Meet physical requirements to perform duties safely, including lifting fifty (50) pounds occasionally and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance
