Job Summary

Job Summary

Special Education's Extended School Year (ESY) offers schools days to their students during the summer. This year Instructional Aides and Occupational Therapists are needed. The following ESY information applies to all positions: Dates: June 10th, 2025: Orientation/Workday June 11th, 2025: First Student Day No School: 6/19/25 & 7/4/25 July 8th, 2025: Last Student Day *The expectation is for staff to complete all 19 workdays. Workday Schedule: 4.5 hours per day Start times are TBD based on district transportation input and school site placement but are typically 8:30 am or 9:00 am Candidates can choose to work all 4 weeks or substitute as needed. Requirements / Qualifications

INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE: Autism Support: Assist a certificated Special Education Teacher experienced in Autism, PDD, and other severe neurological disorders, and the general supervision of the Special Education Sr. Director or designee, administers tutoring and support services to students in a classroom setting in acquiring learning, behavior and social skills. Goals are established by the collaborative educational team and the student’s individualized educational plans (IEP/IFSP). This class is distinguished from other classes in the Instructional family by being assigned to work with students in the SCCOE collaborative partnership for students with autism. Moderate/Severe: Assist certificated teacher in the instruction, supervision and/or care of assigned students in the Special Education program; to maintain a safe and effective learning environment; and to perform a variety of instructional and clerical functions in support of assigned classroom activities and programs. Education and Experience: Moderate/Severe: Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in child development, education or a related field is desirable. Some experience in working with special education students is desirable. Some experience working with special education students and/or children with Autism, PDD or other neurological disorders is desirable. Applicants must submit a completed application and are encouraged to attach a résumé and proof that you have earned 48 semester or 60 quarter units of higher education to complete the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirement to the application material. Alternatively, those who cannot provide proof of higher education units are welcome to take the ESSA exam via Zoom to satisfy the requirement.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST: Under the general direction of the assigned administrator, provide assessment; provide consultation to parents and teachers; and direct treatment for eligible children with disabling conditions, complying with County Office of Education administrative policies, and state and federal laws and regulations. Education: Master’s Degree in occupational therapy, accredited by certification from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy (ACOTE). Occupational Therapists who entered educational programs prior 2007 may practice with a Bachelor’s Degree in occupational therapy, accredited by certification from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy (ACOTE). Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in occupational therapy for children with various disabilities. License or Certificate: Valid registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Possession of the State of California Board of Occupational Therapy license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license and appropriate vehicle operation insurance. Possession of CPR and first aid certificate.
