Job Summary
Job Summary
The Technology Teacher Specialist collaborates with teachers, specialists, and other staff throughout California and on-campus at CSB to promote individual skill-building and the use of technology to support access to differentiated curricula across various programs. This position works directly with students and teachers to provide instruction, assist in lesson planning, and integrate technology to enhance student learning and skill development. Responsibilities include assessing student skills, developing appropriate technology goals, and fostering student expectations for using technology effectively. The specialist partners with other Teacher Specialists and Teaching Assistants in the Technology Lab to develop and implement best practices in technology instruction for students with visual impairments, including developing instructional materials, teaching short-term courses, and coordinating technology assessments. Additional responsibilities may include contributing to other needs and opportunities as they arise.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required Qualifications A valid credential in either or both: o California Education Specialist's Credential in Visual Impairment o California Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in Orientation and Mobility or have any valid CA teaching credential and extensive technology teaching experience and enroll in a program for a California Education Specialist's Credential in Visual Impairment by the beginning of the term and complete the preliminary credential within 2 years. o A positive mindset and flexible approach to work and teaching o Proactive self-starter with the ability to multitask, establish and rearrange priorities, and maintain focus on both short-term and long-terms goals o Proficient computer skills in utilizing various word processors, spreadsheets, and online resources. o Savvy internet skills in researching and discovering deliverables and resources Desired Qualifications • Experience teaching blind and low vision students including students with additional disabilities. • Experience managing group of students. • Excellent interpersonal skills, written communication skills, and oral communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively within the Assistive Technology team and Education Resource Center as well as with a wide range of stakeholders.. • Experience and/or familiarity with academic testing of student. • Valid Driver’s License Please refer to Duty Statement for further information related to job expectations.
