IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT: The Fullerton School District and Personnel Commission are working in collaboration to hire a solution-minded leader that can implement the vision of the Merit System, maintain and build employee culture and union relationships, and carrying out the Personnel Goals of the Fullerton School District. The ideal candidate will be empathetic to multiple perspectives and skillful in communication to navigate interpersonal challenges, while technically skillful in building sustainable and innovative HR systems by empowering the people and teams that carry out the work of Human Resources.

Requirements / Qualifications

POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time, exempt management position leading Classified Human Resources. Under administrative and Personnel Commission direction, the Director, Human Resources plans and directs human resource services in accordance with Personnel Commission rules and regulations, District policy, Bargaining Unit agreements, and applicable practices and laws. The Director serves as the executive officer to the Personnel Commission. In support of the Personnel Commission, the Director oversees the classification, recruitment, selection and retention of Classified employees based on Merit System principles. The Director also supports Certificated Human Resources with the employee accommodations process and related personnel matters. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: •Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Human Resources, Public Administration or a closely related field. A Master’s Degree in a related area is preferred. Experience: • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of Human Resources, with two (2) years of recent management experience in a civil service setting. • Experience in a California school district Merit System is preferred.

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The recruitment process will consist of the following: an application and supplemental question response evaluation and structured oral interview(s). To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the process. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill the current and any future vacancies for one year (12 months). If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. Date of Interviews The anticipated date of the qualifying interviews will be 04/03/25, with final interviews anticipated to be 04/08/25. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone, of the exact time, date, and place of the interview(s).
