Mayacamas Countywide Middle School (“MCMS”) is a 6-8th grade public charter middle school that will build on the strength of the proven New Tech Network Project-Based Learning Model while utilizing best-in-class curricular elements to meet the growing needs of Napa’s diverse community of families. MCMS is a diverse by design middle school, where socio-economically and racially/ethnically diverse students – who have diverse learning needs – will benefit from a highly personalized program that differentiates instruction to meet individual students’ needs. Mayacamas Countywide is a new charter school serving Napa County families located in downtown Napa. We are not just looking for teachers, but for founding educators. MCMS needs educators who want to play a significant role in evolving our model and curriculum, facilitating meetings, designing school systems, and helping to create a school culture that is focused on social-emotional health, high achievement and community. We are searching for educators committed to the love of teaching and building a long-term legacy for Napa families. We are building our music program, which we intend to offer best-in-class instruction for our students. We are looking for an educator who is enthusiastic about exploring alternative and modern approaches to music education. This position offers the unique opportunity to build and shape a vibrant music program that goes beyond traditional classroom settings, encouraging student engagement through contemporary music styles and hands-on learning experiences. THIS ROLE IS SCHEDULED TO TEACH TWO MODERN MUSIC CLASSES DURING THE SCHOOL DAY, WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL CLASS AND A MUSIC-FOCUSED AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Development: Design and implement a diverse music curriculum that includes traditional music education as well as non-traditional offerings such as rock band-style classes, modern music genres, and music technology. Classroom Instruction: Teach middle school music classes in a way that fosters creativity, collaboration, and a love for music among students. Encourage student participation in non-traditional settings, including group performances, solo work, and small ensembles. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university • Master’s degree in subject matter field or Education (preferred) • Must possess, or be in the process of completing, a current California teaching credential in music; CLAD or BCLAD strongly preferred (If you also have a muti-subject credential, or a single subject credential in science or English Language Arts, there is the opportunity to pair a part-time role in music with other open roles) Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: • Solid knowledge of subject matter, including CA CCSS, CA State Content Standards and subject-specific frameworks and assessments • Experience in collaborating with other teachers as well as with cross curricular teams in building project-based learning (PBL) units. MCMS will employ the New Tech Network model curriculum, which uses projects and problems as the primary mode of instruction • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) • Must be computer literate
