The purpose of this job description is to highlight the responsibilities, qualities, and mission of teachers at the University Preparatory Academy. UPA is a community of learners, both teachers and students, staff, and families. Teachers are at the core of our mission here at UPA and that is to prepare students to enter and excel in the best colleges or universities in the nation. UPA is seeking a full-time High school Physics and AP Physics Teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. The candidate will have: Physics Knowledge of NGSS Physics standards including Newton's laws of motion, conservation of energy, waves, electricity, and magnetism. Knowledge of mathematical equations related to physics; specifically algebra. Ability to conduct weekly experiments, labs, and/or activities. Guide students with data collection and help with analysis. Use models to help facilitate learning. Knowledge of some engineering concepts is helpful. AP Physics Requires attendance to AP Physics training and updates to the program as necessary. Knowledge of previous physics tests and FRQs from the College Board. Incorporating specific labs that are used in general physics with AP physics. UPA also desires the candidate to have knowledge in basic high school Chemistry. Chemistry Knowledge of NGSS Chemistry standards. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and national science standards. Teach fundamental and advanced chemistry concepts, including atomic structure, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, and organic chemistry. Conduct and supervise laboratory experiments, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Assess student understanding through quizzes, tests, projects, and lab reports. GENERAL JOB RESPONS
