John Muir Charter Schools Full-Time Multiple Subject Teacher Rancho Cielo YouthBuild, Salinas, Ca The Multiple Subject/General Education Teacher is employed by John Muir Charter Schools (JMCS) and is responsible for classroom instruction of young people (age 16- 24) participating in the Rancho Cielo Youth Campus in Salinas, Ca. The teacher will work closely with the Rancho Cielo staff team to integrate Rancho Cielo’s mission into the classroom. The Multiple Subject Teacher will be responsible for assisting students in Rancho Cielo programs to complete their high school diploma and to provide necessary support services to enable participants to be successful. The teacher will assist with enrolling and assessing students to determine the proper course of study that will lead to a high school diploma and prepare them for successful continuation to post-secondary education. The teacher’s primary role will be to instruct students in multiple subjects at multiple skills levels. The teacher reports directly to the JMCS Site Director/Principal. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepare monthly, weekly, and daily lesson plans for all courses. • Be able to teach high school level multiple subject courses at a variety of student skill levels. • Commitment to the Rancho Cielo program model and ability incorporate practical learning experiences related to job readiness, life skills and leadership. • Coordinate with Rancho Cielo staff and be a strong team player to ensure comprehensive, synchronized services. • Conduct culturally relevant classes appropriate for students coming from many cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and economic backgrounds and incorporating students’ experiences into learning. • Inform the Site Directors and other appropriate staff of academic and non-academic issues that affect student progress • Incorporate college and career planning into regular classroom practice. • Monitor and evaluate student progress
Requirements / Qualifications
• A current California Multiple Subject teaching credential, or ability to acquire Provisional Intern or Short Term Staff Permit while working towards credential. Single Subject credentials may be accepted in some circumstances. • Authorization for Supporting English Language Learners required
