Job Summary

General Description The principal is directly responsible to the Superintendent. As the educational leader of his/her school, the principal is responsible for utilizing the human resources, materials, equipment and physical facilities to promote a stimulating and productive learning experience for every child. His/her decisions give direction and impetus to provide an exhilarating educational experience for the children at his/her school. Qualifications 1. Possess a valid Administrative or Supervisory Credential. 2. Teaching and/or administrative experience is desirable. 3. Possess a background of training and/or experience in school administration and curriculum. 4. Demonstrate the ability to deal positively and effectively with students, staff and community. Duties and Responsibilities The site principal, within the limitations defined by the district, is responsible for: 1. Curriculum development and instructional leadership. 2. Development of educational goals and objectives of the school. 3. Supervision and evaluation of all certificated and classified staff assigned to the school. a.) Responsible for participation in selection of personnel. 4. Administration and supervision of special projects and special education programs and personnel assigned to the school. 5. Facilitates and initiates school staff development programs. 6. Administration of the pupil guidance and testing programs including interpretation of data relative to these programs. 7. Facilitates communication and interaction between students, teachers, parents and the District. 8. Promotes physical and mental well-being of students. 9. Interprets and implements District policies and practices. 10. Serves as a liaison with the local school community. 11. Develops budget and management of school. 12. Gathers data and completes reports punctually. 13. Monitors equipment and materials assigned to the school. 14. Manages school plant and site. 15. Participates in district inservi

Requirements / Qualifications

Possess an Administrative Services credential. Possess the ability to work positively and effectively with students, families, school personnel, and other community agencies. Previous administrative experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level. Experience with or understanding of PLC, PBIS, and AVID. Instructional Leadership and/or Coaching experience preferred.
