Job Summary: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans as required; perform related clerical duties. Ability to: Assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or other learning environment. Reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students as directed by the teacher. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans. Perform a variety of clerical duties including typing, filing and duplicating materials. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Monitor, observe and report student behavior and progress according to approved policies and procedures. Read books to students and assist with reading and writing activities as assigned. Observe health and safety regulations. Maintain records and files. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Under the direction of the site principal and assigned certificated teacher, the Comprehensive Instructional Aide assists in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment, performs various supportive tasks designed to facilitate instructional effectiveness of student learning in classrooms with non or limited English proficient students; and perform duties that are necessary and appropriate to ensure that the special education student receives services outlined on his/her Individual Educational Plan (I.E.P.) in accordance with federal law.  This position may require transporting students. This position is contingent upon applicable state and/or federal funding, as well as the educational, operational, and fiscal needs of the District.

 

Required Qualifications:

Appropriate Education

Associate of Arts Degree or 48 transferable Community College unit or Paraprofessional Certificate 

Department of Justice/Criminal Background Clearance

Active Tuberculosis screening

Valid California Driver's License

Automobile Insurance (minimum amount required by board policy)

Ability to be insured by the District

Reliable transportation in order to work in assigned area(s)

Ability to communicate fluently in English/Spanish (must pass a standardized district bilingual test)

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. • Certification of District Proficiency in areas of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics by Passing the District Proficiency Exam One of the following may be submitted in place of the District Proficiency Certificate: • Proof of passing Proficiency Exam from any district • AA Degree or higher • At least 48 college units You will need to meet the following clearances: • Fingerprint clearance (DOJ background check) • Verification of Freedom from Tuberculosis (TB) which is valid for 4 years

  • Other (AA Degree or higher /48 college units or Paraprofessional Certification)
  • Proof of HS Graduation

Requirements / Qualifications
