DUTIES:

Under general direction from the Director of the Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division, the Education Administrator I (EA I) manages the Instructional Materials and Access Unit (IMAU). Responsibilities include providing leadership, managerial direction, and supervision of professional education, analytical, and support staff for the educational program responsibilities assigned to the unit. The EA I serves as staff support to the Instructional Quality Commission (IQC), an advisory committee to the State Board of Education (SBE). The EA I will have primary responsibility for carrying out the following duties:
• Direct the formulation, development, administration, and evaluation of strategies to carry out policies, programs, and priorities of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the SBE.
• Provide leadership in the facilitation for the SBE content standards and curriculum frameworks adoption processes, including the development of schedules, committee materials, and meeting facilitation.
• Provide leadership to connect and align the work of IMAU to that of other divisions within the Department.
• Provide leadership, managerial direction, and supervision of professional education, management, analytical, and support staff for the educational program responsibilities assigned to the unit.
• Collaborate with the administrator of the Standards and Curricular Guidance Unit to assist in directing the development of subject area curriculum frameworks.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Programmatic knowledge of instructional resources and instructional pedagogy to support high-quality first instruction and interventions.
• Excellent writing skills along with the ability to create and present engaging presentations.
• The ability and experience to consult with local educational agency administrators, program directors, and teachers to further support classroom- and non-classroom-based instruction.
• The ability and experience to consult with local educational agency administrators, program directors, and teachers to further the awareness of the Clearinghouse for Specialized Media and Technology's resources.
• The ability to hold staff accountable while building a collaborative culture and communicate with clarity and transparency.
• The knowledge and understanding of high-quality, research-based effective first instruction practices.

Responsibilities include providing administrative and programmatic leadership; managerial direction; and supervision of education program consultants, analysts, and support staff for the educational program responsibilities assigned to the unit. Specifically, EAI must ensure there is logical decision making regarding alleged violation and compliance determination, as well as consistency among complaint reports that are thorough and comprehensive. The Unit responsibilities include analyzing allegations and determining compliance; investigating non-compliance; designing and facilitating student outcome systems; and providing technical assistance to staff, and/or local educational agencies.
