SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
DEFINITION
Under direction of the Superintendent, serves as the educational leader and chief executive of the school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides leadership to the staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for developing long- and short-range plans for the school of assignment.
- Interprets and implements all district policies and procedures in the light of individual school needs.
- Identifies and coordinates inservice growth opportunities for teaching personnel within the school.
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of all assigned personnel in accordance with the district’s adopted uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment and recommends appropriate action.
- Assigns all students in such a way as to encourage their optimum growth.
- Makes periodic appraisals of pupil progress.
- Develops school plans and organizational procedures for the health, safety, discipline and conduct of students as established in district procedures.
- Plans, coordinates and evaluates the total program of pupil services within the school.
- Plans, supervises and directs the business operation of the school in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Makes plans for the most effective use of curriculum materials, instructional supplies, equipment, building facilities and school grounds.
- Carries out a program of community relations.
- Coordinates and reviews the work of resource teachers and/or consultants assigned to assist teachers in the instructional program.
- Participates in the selection and assignment of teachers.
- Serves as a member of the district management team.
- Assists in the development of district policies related, but not limited to, personnel management, curriculum and budget.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience:
- Five years (minimum) of successful public school
- Teaching experience at elementary level
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations.
LICENSE/LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Valid California teaching credential.
- Valid administrative services credential.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
SALARY
Certificated Management Salary Schedule – 215 work days
Proposed Salary Placement: $151,978 -$162,069
