Job Summary

Under direction, through individual and group instruction, assists pupils to fulfill their capacities for mental, physical, emotional and social growth; uses teaching techniques appropriate to stimulate their abilities and interests; uses specialized materials, equipment and instructional procedures as necessary to meet the individual needs of blind or low-vision pupils.

Requirements / Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university California Teaching Credential authorizing performance of service with programs for the visually impaired Possess specialized techniques and skills pertinent to working with the visually impaired, such as braille reading and writing, training in use of various technological devices and optical aids Background and/or certification in orientation and mobility Knowledge of technology for Braille, large print and talking software
