FULLERTON JOINT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT



LOCKSMITH


BASIC FUNCTION:

Under supervision, perform skilled lock maintenance work in installation, adjustment, and repair; change keyed and combination locks; and perform related duties as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inspect, diagnose, and repair or adjust keyed and combination locks;

  2. Install, repair, adjust, and overhaul door closers;

  3. Rebuild various types of locks; change lock combinations;

  4. Keep master keys for District, schools, and related facilities;

  5. Prepare and maintain master keys system;

  6. Requisition and maintain locks, lock parts, and keys;

  7. Responsibility to cut new or duplicate keys by code; and

  8. Repair panic bar and other exit hardware.


KNOWLEDGE OF:

  1. Materials, tools equipment, and methods used in the maintenance and repair of locks;

  2. Safety requirements; and

  3. Key making and master-keying practices,


ABILITY TO:

  1. Repair locks and make keys;

  2. Use and care for locksmith tools and equipment;

  3. Keep records;

  4. Perform shop mathematics;

  5. Lift; and

  6. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma, or equivalent; and

  2. Two years of experience in locksmith work.


LICENSE REQUIRED:

  1. Possession of a valid State of California Class C Driver’s License.
