Job Summary
**Must be 21 yrs. or older** Coaches serve at the pleasure of the Athletic Director of Bret Harte Union High School. The following duties encompass the role of the Coach: 1. Organize and provide leadership for all levels of the applicable sport program 2. Staffing for athletic programs 3. Maintenance, certification and inventory of all necessary equipment 4. Fundraising 5. Off-Season athletic programs 6. Liaison with youth athletic programs and Booster organizations 7. Work in cooperation with all Bret Harte Athletic programs MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Ability to administer and adhere to the school, district, and California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) policies governing student conduct. • Knowledge, desire, and proven ability to coach the fundamentals of the game, and to develop student athletes to be successful in their present and future athletic and academic endeavors. • Knowledgeable in the care and prevention of athletic injuries, basic first aid, and emergency procedures. • Knowledgeable of current coaching techniques of involved sport activity. • Knowledgeable and competent in the area of child or adolescent psychology, whichever is appropriate to the grade level of the involved sports activity. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Experience coaching as a head coach or an assistant coach at a junior college or a CIF-sanctioned sport as a high school varsity head coach, a junior varsity head coach, or an assistant coach at the varsity level in the past five years. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Able to lift/carry up to 58 pounds 2. Able to push/pull a maximum force of 49.1 pounds on objects

The Bret Harte Union High School District serves secondary students in the community of historic Angels Camp, home of "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" and also serves the Corridor 4 communities from Copperopolis to Bear Valley. Bret Harte Union High School, established in 1905, celebrated its 100th year of operation in 2005.
Two elementary school districts feed into the high school district - Vallecito Union School District and the Mark Twain Union Elementary School District. The district community includes foothill communities, pristine lake areas, and high mountains.
The Bret Harte Union High School District provides a quality educational program for more than 600 students in grades 9-12 at one school site. The District ensures a safe school environment that allows all students equal access and opportunities in the district's academic and other educational support programs, services, and activities. It is a basic aid district with an annual operating budget of approximately $15 million.
