Job Summary

The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a passionate and experienced Preschool Head Teacher to lead a dynamic and caring classroom for young learners. As the Preschool Head Teacher, you will have the opportunity to create and implement engaging lesson plans and curriculum, communicate with parents, and oversee classroom staff activities. You'll be responsible for student onboarding, maintaining licensing records, ensuring the classroom is compliant with safety regulations, and assist in developing emergency plans. With a strong focus on leadership, you’ll guide a team of preschool teachers and assistants, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and compassionate environment. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the educational experience of preschool children, while also managing the classroom budget, organizing special events like preschool graduations, and ensuring staff and children’s immunization records are up-to-date. A deep understanding of licensing regulations and a passion for early childhood development are highly preferred. To perform technical preschool program duties requiring specialized knowledge; to organize, assign, and review the work of assigned staff engaged in planning and implementing preschool program activities; and to provide highly-responsible technical support to assigned supervisor.

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience and Training Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Four years of responsible journey experience similar to Preschool Teacher with the City of Beverly Hills. Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by at least 15 semester or equivalent quarter units from an accredited or approved college or university as set for the below: * 3 of 15  units in Administration and Supervision; and * 12 of 15 units in courses that cover general areas of child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family, and community, or child and family; and program curriculum. 

Possession of, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire: * Valid CPR certification * Possession of 15 hours of health and safety training that should include the following components:  Pediatric First Aid; Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); a preventative health course or courses that include instruction in the recognition, management, and prevention of infectious diseases, including immunizations, and prevention of childhood injuries.  The training may include instruction in sanitary food handling, emergency preparedness and evacuation, and caring for children with special needs.
