Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 5 hours between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Schedule may be flexible after completion of training and will be based primarily on department needs however the preference of employee will be taken into consideration. This position may also be eligible for a hybrid (in-person / remote) work schedule

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Human Resource Services, perform a variety of specialized technical and advanced-level clerical functions in support of the Human Resources department. The Human Resources Technician will be responsible for all human resources related functions within the human resources information system, including all employee data entry (new employees, separations, additional assignments, salary information etc. ) and will also be responsible for the maintenance of data, data auditing and generating reports. Additionally, the Human Resources Technician will also assist with certificated and classified recruitments, employment processing and the day-to-day functions of the human resources office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

Input employee data into human resources information system; develop and maintain schedule to monitor and input employee status changes, salary changes and other related employee data; conduct regularly scheduled audits of employee data to ensure accuracy.

Provide technical information and assistance to staff regarding a variety of information related to the human resources information system; prepare a variety of reports, lists and documents from the human resources information system for use by the human resources department, other departments and schools; prepare reports for  county, state and federal agencies.

Compile data, reports and information from various sources for purposes of collective bargaining. 

Assist with duties related to certificated and classified recruitments, such as application screening, maintenance of recruitment database; communications with applicants;  scheduling and proctoring pre-employment testing, interview scheduling and preparation of  materials.

Assist in substitute teacher employment processing and credential/permit evaluation and monitoring; communication with substitute teachers regarding expiration of credential/permit; assist in the daily monitoring and placement of substitute teachers using substitute job placement applications; assist School Office Supervisors, teachers and substitute teachers with substitute job placement application, as needed.

Participate and provide support in the coordination and implementation of human resources department activities and projects.

Assist in the day-to-day functions of the human resources department, including answering and assisting callers and visitors.

Operate a computer and related software to input, maintain and extract data and information; operate a variety of office equipment.

Perform related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge and Skills:  Knowledge of Human Resources office functions, activities, accurate data entry techniques, including system to check entries to ensure accuracy;  District organization, operations, policies and objectives; recruitment procedures, including applicant tracking database, applicant screening and communication; classified bargaining unit agreements; basic knowledge of substitute teacher credentials and permits; operation of computer and related software; modern office practices, procedures and equipment; record keeping and report preparation techniques;  oral and written communication skills; telephone and electronic mail techniques and etiquette; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Abilities: Ability to perform a variety of specialized and complex technical duties to support the functions of the human resources department; input data with a high degree of accuracy; ability to develop a method to monitor and audit employee data;  assist in the recruitment of certificated and classified staff; learn certificated employee credentialing to evaluate and monitor credentials/permits; compile and analyze information and prepare comprehensive reports, lists and other materials; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; operate a computer and related software at and advanced level; learn new software programs; operate standard office equipment; work confidentially with discretion to maintain the security and confidentiality of sensitive and privileged data and information; meet schedules and timelines; answer the phone and greet callers and visitors courteously; maintain accurate records, including automated records; type accurately at an acceptable rate of speed; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to:

Graduation from a recognized college, university with a major in human resources, business or public administration or closely related field

At least three years of responsible experience in human resources which includes direct experience in entering employee data into a human resources information system.

ENVIRONMENT:

Office environment subject to considerable distraction and noise from constant interruptions and office activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sitting and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a typewrite and computer keyboard; hearing and speaking to communicate and exchange with others on the phone and in person.
