We have an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Instructor located at our campus in Menifee, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks a Nursing Instructor to teach and develop courses in Nursing (Pediatrics/Medical Surgical). This is a full-time tenure track-track academic position. The ideal candidate is student-oriented in their approach and dedicated to student success and will be skilled in generating student engagement in learning and will create welcoming learning environments that are equity-based and culturally affirming. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours and Associate Degree Program activities are also required. Faculty are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus, off-campus classes, and online classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in nursing; (attach transcripts) OR 2. A Bachelor’s degree in nursing AND a Master’s degree in health education or health science; (attach transcripts)OR 3. The Equivalent; OR 4. The minimum qualification as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher; AND 5. Direct patient care experience (within the last five (5) years) in Pediatrics which can be met by: **one (1) year of professional experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the Pediatrics specialty; OR **one (1) academic year of registered nurse level teaching experience OR **its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency in Pediatrics, AND 6. Direct patient care experience (within the last five (5) years) in Medical Surgical which can be met by: **one (1) year of professional experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the Medical Surgical specialty; OR **one (1) academic year of registered nurse level teaching experience OR **its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency in Medical Surgical, AND 7. Completion of at least one (1) year of experience teaching courses related to registered nursing; OR **completion of post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing; AND 8.Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff. *** Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph ****

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.Strong academic preparation in Nursing as evidenced by undergraduate and graduate level coursework 2.Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of Nursing courses 3.Recent (within the last 5 years) teaching experience in Nursing at an accredited college or university, community college experience preferred 4. Demonstrated commitment to diverse teaching methods and learning styles 5. Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in Nursing and the instruction of Nursing 6. Demonstrated commitment to community college education, as evidenced in personal and/or professional experience 7. Demonstrated excellence in teaching (enthusiasm, knowledge of subject matter, student motivational skills and ability to teach students with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds) 8. Interest in and/or ability to use relevant and modern technology in Nursing instruction 9. Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to such issues of diversity as academic preparedness, culture, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic circumstances, and disability 10.
