BASIC FUNCTIONS FOR: Administrative Assistant I relieves the workload of a manager by performing responsible administrative and staff duties; leads the work of assigned classified staff. Elementary School Assistant relieves the workload of a site administrator and staff by performing delegated administrative duties and accomplishing assigned projects; coordinating school activities as assigned.

PRE-QUALIFIED POOL EXAMINATION PROCESS: This application process will establish a pool of pre-qualified candidates for the Administrative Assistant I, and/or Elementary School Assistant position(s). Candidates successful in the examination process may also have the opportunity to pre-qualify for School Clerk I/II using their passing examination score. Candidates need only apply once; all applications will be screened for the minimum requirements at the highest level they are qualified for. Applicants who are successful in the examination process will be placed on the Pre-Qualified Pool List for a duration of 1 YEAR. Once on a list, pre-qualified candidates will be required to express interest in our site-specific job postings as they are announced, by applying online. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Administrative Assistant I Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from a recognized four (4) year college or university with a degree in business or public administration and one (1) year of recent, related experience. Elementary School Assistant Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to four (4) years of experience in planning, organizing, and directing non-instructional activities in an educational, community, or business setting.
SALARY SCHEDULE: The Administrative Assistant I will be paid on the OTBS Salary Schedule. Salary Grade: 46 ($33.68 - $40.93). The Elementary School Assistant will be paid on the OTBS Salary Schedule. Salary Grade: 37 ($27.04 - $32.87). LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Administrative Assistant I Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private transportation may be required for some positions in this job class (mileage expense allowance provided).
