Job Summary

Job Summary

The Del Mar Union School district offers a Spanish Language Immersion Program at two schools, Ashley Falls and Del Mar Hills Academy. The program began during the 2020-21 school year with our first cohort of kindergarten students and will grow by one grade level each year. During the 2025-26 school year, the program will expand through fourth grade. Lessons are supported with teaching strategies that enable students to build their language skills while also mastering the objectives of the lesson. Through our One-way Immersion model, students gain a strong foundation in their second language by first learning to read and write in Spanish. The amount of formal English instruction increases as the students matriculate through the grades, beginning with a 90/10 model in kindergarten and first grade and progressing toward a 50/50 model by grade four.
