White Learning Center serves our students in grades TK-2. ** Castle Rock Elementary School serves our students in grades 3-5. ** Woodlake Valley Middle School serves our students in grades 6-8. ** Woodlake High School serves grades 9-12 students, and the Three Rivers and Seville students join the district. ** Bravo Lake also serves students in grades 9-12 who need an alternative setting. ** Woodlake Community Day School serves students in grades 7-12.

Job Summary

A Substitute Teacher, or Sub teacher, is responsible for managing a classroom and providing instruction to students in the event that their regular teacher is unable to lead class. Instructs and leads student learning in accordance with the goals, directives and curriculum of Woodlake Unified School District’s Schools, and the state of California. Essential Functions: • Follows lessons plans provided by the regular teacher, adapting instruction as needed to meet student needs. • Manages classroom and student behaviors and ensures a positive learning environment • Take’s attendance and documents student behavior progress. • Adheres to the school policies and reporting student progress to the primary teacher when necessary. • Supervises students during class time, school activities, transitions and breaks. • Being flexible and able to adjust to different classroom environments and assignment changes based on school site and/or student needs. Skills and/or Abilities: Skills to: • Experience teaching or instructing others, typically students in a classroom setting; • communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds Abilities to: • stand and walk for prolonged periods; • perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks; • maintain records; • establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision.

Valid Emergency 30-day Substitute Teaching Permit or a Preliminary/Clear Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential or other credential issued by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC).

T.B. clearance prior to beginning work. Fingerprint clearance certificated through the Tulare County Office of Education. (We will verify DOJ electronically)

  • Fingerprint Clearance (Copy of TCOE email reciept of clearance)
  • TB Screening Result (TB clearance within the last 4 years (proof))

  • 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit (Valid 30-day Substitute Teaching Permit or a Preliminary/Clear Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential or other credential issued by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC).)
