Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Student Services (or designee) and the clinical supervision of the Coordinator - Metal Health Services and/or a Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC), conducts mental health assessments, provides direct mental health services to students (individually and in groups), and participates in consultations with District personnel in support of the mental health needs of students. The Mental Health Associate works in collaboration with private providers and public agencies to facilitate treatment and referrals, attends student progress meetings, and performs all related work and duties otherwise assigned as required. Clinical supervision by a licensed clinician who meets the supervision requirements mandated by the Board of Behavioral Sciences is available for candidates who are in the process of accruing hours for licensure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master’s Degree in counseling or psychology (with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy, social work, or clinical counseling), including all courses needed to meet licensure requirements of the position. Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential preferred. Experience Required: Six (6) months working with school-aged children and/or adolescents in a structured environment. Licenses, Certifications, and/or Testing Required: Valid California Class C driver's license and evidence of insurability, TB test clearance, pre-employment physical and drug testing clearance, Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance; possession at minimum at time of employment of an Intern Registration Number with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC), or Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW); possession of a license as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW is also suitable to meet licensure requirements.
