Extended school year (ESY) services are special education and related services that are provided to a student with a disability beyond the regular school year in accordance with his/her IEP. The purpose of ESY services is to assist students in maintaining the skills at risk of regression or for students with severe disabilities to attain the critical skills or self-sufficiency goals essential to the student’s continued progress.
The Franklin-McKinley School District Special Education Department will be offering the Extended School Year program (ESY) this year tentatively at Windmill Springs School. Extended School Year will be in-person and will run from June 27, 2022- July 25, 2022. Certificated Staff hours are 7:45am - 12:15pm.
Certificated staff are expected to participate in a 1 hour staff meeting weekly throughout ESY (6/27-7/25/2022)
On June 24, 2022, there will be a 4 hour training and classroom preparation day scheduled prior to the start of ESY for all Staff members.
The selection of Certificated Staff will be done by an interview committee, and continued summer employment will be contingent on student attendance levels for the first ten days of any Extended School Year program.
All completed forms will be submitted to the Human Resources Department, Franklin McKinley School District. Notification of acceptance will be sent by Human Resources.
