Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Human Resources Administration and/or designee, the Human Resources Assistant represents the first on a multiple-level career ladder governing human resources specialty. Advancement potential exists in the Human Resources Technician position with demonstrated competency at coordinating a full range of human resources program support and services for a defined population of staff. The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for establishing and maintaining all processes and systems needed to manage a variety of leave entitlements, including sick leave, personal leave, medical leaves, Family and Medical Leave Act, California Family Rights Act, child bonding/parental leave, catastrophic leave, and unpaid leaves of absence. It provides advanced clerical and secretarial support to human resources functions such as, but not limited to employment attendance, application processing, substitute employees, fingerprinting, mandated trainings, clearances, and updates. The position serves as the first touchpoint for educators/employees beginning their work experience for the Ventura County Office of Education.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent to graduation from high school; experience with general clerical office work, computer equipment and related software. Valid California driver's license. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Requires a valid California driver’s license. Some positions in this classification may require the ability to speak, read, and write a designated second language.
