JOB DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) provides support to instructional staff through professional development, lesson demonstration, and coaching support for the purpose of improving and enhancing teaching quality and student achievement. Curate, develop and present resources and materials to support curriculum and instruction. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES - Identify, design, organize, and facilitate site-level professional development opportunities to support research-based practices. - Support classroom instruction and model effective practices for staff as needed - Plan and facilitate professional learning community (PLC) discussion - Design and provide coaching support in individual and/or small group settings. - Assist teachers to develop lesson designs. - Oversee implementation of curriculum frameworks and content standards including vertical and horizontal articulation - Provide training and act as a resource for parents regarding the Irvine Chinese Immersion Academy. - Flexible hours may include meetings and functions, and parent events. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS •Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university •Valid teaching credential •English Learner authorization •Five years of previous successful appropriate teaching experience •Expertise and experience in the design and presentation of educator professional development in language instruction DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS •Advanced training or certification in related areas (e.g., National Board Certification, Master’s Degree in curriculum/instruction) •Expertise in the education of specific student groups (e.g., English learners, students with disabilities, socio-economically disadvantaged students, ethnic groups) •Previous site leadership team experience •Possess or working towards Administration Credential
