Under direction of classroom teacher or program director, and the supervision of a school principal, provides instructional and paraprofessional support for students including intensified learning experiences, and performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE Completion of high school or General Education Diploma (GED); Possession of an Associate of Arts Degree or two years of study at an institution of higher education, other evidence of equivalent training/education, or pass an assessment test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching, reading, writing and mathematics or reading, writing and mathematics readiness. Volunteer or paid experience working with children is preferred. For more information, please view the Job Description EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test or performance test and a structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each test part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each test part. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future permanent and substitute vacancies. Applicants who may need reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Personnel Department at (562) 690-2321, three business days prior to the testing date. Date of Examination Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
