Job Summary
University High School is a ranked as one of the state and nation's best high schools. Located on the Fresno State campus, every student participates in a specific course pattern, which includes college prep classes and dual enrollment courses. Students graduate UHS with a minimum of 21 credits of college work and about half of the CSU requirements completed. Our course pattern is perhaps the most rigorous in the country and the school attracts a wide variety of highly motivated students from the area, including many talented students. This position is for 11th and 12th Grade Social Studies classes, which may include U.S. History, A.P. U.S. History, and A.P. Government, and will begin in the 2025-26 school year. Teaching in the Social Studies Department at University High School means working with creative, interactive, higher-achieving students to help them better understand the world which they are about to enter as adults. Courses here entail not simply meeting but, in some cases, going well beyond California Content Standards and College Board curricular requirements. Teachers work with others in the department to teach advanced thinking skills and greater contextual understanding using a variety of tools, such as writing assessments and class discussions.
