Job Summary
Under the direction of the assigned School Site Principal the English Language Development (ELD) Teacher will assist English learners (EL) enrolled in alternative education settings operated by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools achieve proficiency in the English language. The ELD Teacher will provide direct instruction to the students and may provide support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and students to help ensure that appropriate services are provided to EL youth. In collaboration with the EL Resource Specialist, gather and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. This position will be located at Central School in Bakersfield, California.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education/ Credentials: - Must possess a valid California teaching credential. - CLAD certificate (or equivalent) required. - BCLAD preferred. Experience: - Successful experience teaching EL students. - Successful experience in a classroom setting preferred. - Successful experience teaching intervention with at-risk or delinquent youth preferred. Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver's license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
