About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
OCDE’s Alternative, Community, and Correctional Education Schools and Services (ACCESS) programs provide vital supplemental academic services to neglected, delinquent, and at-promise students through seven unique components. These programs serve students referred to alternative education or assigned by Social Services or Probation Departments to residential placements within the County of Orange. In collaboration with Multilingual Student Services, these efforts aim to support multilingual learners and their families in achieving educational success. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Family Community Liaison for the Multilingual Student Services Department. This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting the families of multilingual and alternative education students by fostering communication and collaboration between families, schools, and community resources. Key responsibilities include facilitating parent engagement activities, supporting DELAC meetings, and ensuring families can effectively voice their needs and concerns. Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Associate's degree in an education related field. • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible office administrative experience. • One (1) year of experience working in an educational setting for at-promise youth preferred. • Bilingual in Spanish preferred. The tests are arranged and paid for by OCDE.

Before the Department will finalize an offer of employment, the candidate selected will be required to show original documents which establish both the individual’s identity and employment authorization.
