About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Principal, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of deaf and hard of hearing students in a classroom or other learning environment by performing interpreting, translating and tutorial services.

Unit: CSEA Vacancies: 1 Work Hours/Year: 6 hours / 10 Months (180 Days - School Days Only) Required Documents: Proof of Certification with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent. CSEA Salary Range 130: Step A $29.93, Step B $31.44, Step C $33.03, Step D $34.71, Step E $36.46, Step F $38.31 Promotional/Open * The promotional group as well as the general public may apply. The promotional side of the eligibility list shall take precedence when certifying eligibles. ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS UNTIL FILLED: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: REQUIREMENT: Certified with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent. EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT (ESSA) FEDERAL REQUIREMENT: Degree or completion of 48 semester units from an accredited college or university or district assessment/county certificate showing compliance with ESSA are required. PROOF IS REQUIRED.
EXAMINATION: The first part of the selection process will be a pass/no pass scoring of your application packet. The information you provide on the general and supplemental applications will be used to evaluate your overall qualifications for this position. Based on the results of this evaluation process of Pass/Fail, candidates will be invited to participate in an oral panel interview examination. The oral exam (weighted 100% ) will be conducted, date to be determined. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.
