Job Title: Summer School Nurse Job Description: We are seeking a caring and dedicated School Nurse to provide health services and support to students during our 2025 summer school program. This in-person, on-campus position involves working 4 days per week from June 16 to July 18, 2025, with hours from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The School Nurse will ensure the health and safety of all students and staff while promoting a healthy learning environment. Staff will also participate in 3 professional learning days the week before summer school begins (June 10-12, 2025). Key Details: Schedule: 4 days a week for 5 weeks, June 16 - July 18, 2025. Hours: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Preparation: 3 paid professional learning days, June 10-12, 2025. Responsibilities: Provide direct nursing care, including first aid, medication administration, and health monitoring for students and staff. Respond to health-related emergencies and provide appropriate care or referrals. Maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance with applicable health regulations. Collaborate with teachers, families, and educational partners to address student health needs. Promote a healthy and safe school environment. Participate in professional learning days to prepare for the summer school program. Qualifications: Current School Nurse Services Credential. Experience in school nursing or pediatric care preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. Commitment to fostering student health and well-being in a school setting. GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, serves as a member of the educational team assisting in the promotion of individual, school, family and community health, focusing on the health needs of the District and relating to the overall District educational goals; and to perform other duties as assigned.
DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General:
Assists the administration and staff in development and implementation of a comprehensive student health program, and maintenance of a safe and healthful environment.
Disseminates health education information to teachers, parents and students, and provide direct classroom instruction when needed.
Assists in the development of health education curriculum.
Makes appropriate health appraisals of students referred and provide health counseling to students and their parents when necessary.
Provides vision, auditory and scoliosis screening of students in compliance with health screening mandates and conduct follow-up of all deficiencies by assisting parents in making plans for further examinations and correction.
Keeps accurate records of activities at assigned schools and assist in establishing and maintaining necessary student health records.
Records the results of health screenings and other significant health information in cumulative records.
Completes a health/development evaluation on those students referred to special education when specified in an assessment plan.
Serves as a member of the Individualized Education Plan team to report results of health/development evaluations and provide health related information.
Additional Related Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists in the control and prevention of communicable disease by providing information to staff, students and parents about protective measures against communicable disease.
Establishes contact with appropriate members of the medical community as part of follow-up procedures of chronic and communicable disease cases.
Works with and acts as liaison to school health committees, county health officials and other agencies concerned with the health and welfare of students.
Provides emergency care for serious accidents and illnesses which occur at school.
When available, serves as a resource for school personnel in such cases as needed.

Environmental Conditions:
Work is predominantly in classroom, school environment.
Temperature - normal climate, occasional adverse weather conditions.
Contacts:
Daily contact with students, teachers and school staff.
Regular/occasional contact with parents, community members and outside agency personnel.
Occupational Certificates/Licenses:
Holds an appropriate School Nurse Services Credential or valid emergency certification issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
First Aid and CPR certification.
