EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Credential Services Specialist I Any combination equivalent to: Education: College-level course work in human resources, public administration or a related field is highly desirable and may be prioritized in the screening process, AND Experience: One (1) year clerical/technical experience related to human resources or personnel management. Experience must include maintaining computerized records. Credential Services Specialist II Any combination equivalent to: Education: College-level course work in human resources, public administration or a related field may be considered as partial fulfillment of the work experience requirement, AND Experience: Three (3) years human resources clerical/technical experience related to credentialing, recruitment, selection or employment. Experience must include maintaining computerized records, and interpreting and applying complex laws, rules and regulations. Experience providing technical leadership is desirable.

Under the Manager-Credentials Services, the Credential Services Specialist I/II will provide highly responsible clerical/technical assistance to administrators, teachers, counselors, and others seeking certification within Santa Clara County schools and other credential services as mandated by law. Persons in this position will maintain computerized credential records and files and periodically audit existing school personnel to ensure compliance with applicable laws. The Credential Services Specialist I and the Credential Services Specialist II serve as an alternate class series. Persons may be initially employed at either level depending on their qualifications.   • Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for February 13, 2025.
  • Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
  • Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for the week of February 17, 2025.
  • Second interviews may be held in-person.
