Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) is a regional provider of Career Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education. As the largest organization of its kind in Santa Clara County, we are dedicated to offering career-oriented education to both high school and adult students. Annually, MetroED provides 2,600 diverse students with the skills to help them be productive, income-earning, and tax-paying contributors to Silicon Valley. MetroED collaborates with designated districts to provide comprehensive educational opportunities for adults and high school students. Through our Silicon Valley Career Technical Education program, we offer career technical education to high school students and, on a space-available basis, to adult students in the following districts: Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District. Additionally, our Silicon Valley Adult Education provides courses for the San Jose Unified School District.

Job Summary

We are seeking dynamic, reliable substitute teachers to support our Career Technical Education (CTE) programs across a variety of industry pathways. This position requires individuals who are adaptable, safety-minded, and able to foster student engagement in hands-on, skill-based learning environments. CTE substitute teachers play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning and reinforcing professionalism and career readiness for all students. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver teacher-prepared lesson plans or facilitate structured activities in CTE classrooms such as health sciences, culinary arts, or automotive technology. - Supervise student use of specialized equipment, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment. - Reinforce professional skills such as communication, collaboration, and time management. - Manage classroom behavior effectively, maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment. - Communicate clearly with school staff and leave notes for the returning teacher. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience teaching or working in CTE-related fields or technical training programs. - Understanding of the role of CTE in preparing students for postsecondary education and careers. - Ability to adapt quickly to various learning environments, including labs and workshops. - Commitment to student safety, equity, and engagement. Possess a California Teaching Credential, or be eligible for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit Snapshot - A license that allows you to serve as a substitute teacher for any classroom in any county as long as the employing agency completed a Statement of Need. - It allows you to teach for only 30 days for any one teacher during the school year. - Teaching will be part of technical, trade, or vocational education.
