Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, SELPA, and/or SELPA Directors, the SELPA Program Specialist provides leadership and assistance to the Local Educational Agency (LEAs), families, and community agencies in the Ventura County SELPA in the implementation of laws, regulations, and policies at the state, federal, and SELPA level to effectively support in the continuum of services for students with disabilities within the districts. Responsibilities include: organize and provide training for all educational partners including district administrators and direct service personnel; assist in the planning, organization, and coordination of SELPA programs and services; support, train, supervise and evaluate the occupational and physical therapists as assigned; serve as a liaison between the SELPA and parent and community groups; assist the SELPA Directors in monitoring and providing technical assistance in Local Plan implementation, legal compliance and data collection; lead and support district personnel in SIRAS trainings, reports and compliance.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree major course work in special education or related field and minimum five years educational experience, required. Valid California Clear Special Education Teaching -or- Pupil Personnel Services-School Psychology Services -or- Speech Language Pathology Services, preferred. Prior experience in a special education leadership position, preferred. Experience planning and presenting staff development activities, preferred. Bilingual preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license
