MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education Requirement: Two (2) years of college level coursework or equivalent. A bachelor's degree is desirable. Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience performing specialized and complex student services duties. Experience including extensive public involvement, and participation in promotion, program operations or student support activities is highly desirable. Experience in student mentoring and student program operations in higher education is highly desirable.

WELCOME TO SANTA MONICA COLLEGE! Thank you for your interest in joining the SMC team as a Program Specialist. These positions provide student and program support to specially funded programs designed to increase academic access, retention and achievement for a targeted student population. There is currently one vacancy in the STEM Program. The STEM program provides academic support designed to help traditionally underrepresented students, interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers, successfully complete their studies at SMC, transfer to a four year research orientated baccalaureate program, and enter the workforce. This position is scheduled to work, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. What You Will Bring to the College The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience providing STEM student program support to low income, first generation, underrepresented and underserved student populations, be knowledgeable on higher education and/or District policies, practices, student programs and systems. This individual will be able to establish rapport with stakeholders, take initiative and be a self-starter to accomplish program objectives, be able to work independently, communicate and present information in an effective manner.
