Under general supervision of assigned District administrator, uses technical skills to clearly and accurately interpret a variety of complex oral communication to the target language. May also perform complex translations clearly and accurately from a variety of written source documents to the target language. Performs a wide variety of complex clerical/technical tasks as assigned.

POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals to fill Interpreter/Translator (Spanish) positions to interpret and translate a variety of technical and complex oral and written professional level communications between Spanish and English. This opportunity is a 10.42 month/year position with paid holidays, sick leave and vacation. The District offers a comprehensive pro rated benefits package of health, dental, vision and life insurance for employees who are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week. Individuals must be available to work Monday-Friday during school hours, generally between 7:30am to 4:30pm. Hours may vary depending on the Department's need. The anticipated vacancies range between 20 and 40 hours per week. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from high school or GED is required. College level courses in general education and specialized interpreter/translator training are desirable. Experience: One year of experience providing complex interpreting/translating and performing complex clerical/technical duties.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified by email, writing, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
