Job Summary
The Head Coach provides the necessary practice, support, and advice for the program using existing expertise and skills in the sport. The coach’s responsibilities include leading training sessions, providing motivation and advice during gameplay, developing game plans, attending tryouts, as well as scheduling team meetings. You should be able to identify the individual abilities of each player and provide one-to-one coaching wherever required. To be a successful coach, you should demonstrate great love for your sport and be able to foster good sportsmanship in the players. Outstanding candidates are highly motivated, committed, disciplined, patient and ready to compete at the highest level.

Special Qualities & Characteristics • Passionate for the mission of JSerra (i.e. the integral formation of students’ faith, intellect, and character) • Deep appreciation for the Catholic faith and a commitment to the teachings of the Church • Strong initiative and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment • Must possess and exhibit superior rapport with parents, students, and staff Responsibilities • Develop a culture and program structure that will support healthy competition, fostering of spiritual, physical and mental growth, team unity, and an overall enjoyable experience for all • Create a seasonal practice plan, competition calendar, with options for pre-season training, including a summer camp. In addition to off-season training. • Grow the Tennis program to a competitive number of participants to field all levels; F/S, JV, Varsity • Fielding a highly competitive team in the Trinity League • Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: o Ability to manage a budget (creating and balancing the budget) o Ensure participation of families in fundraising projects o Support booster meetings while working with the team’s #1 o Secure team related apparel and equipment o Coordinate transportation to/from competitions o Hire and manage assistant coaches o Delegate set-up tasks for all home competitions o Schedule practices and secure locations for practices with the athletic department o Follow medical guidance for players given by the Athletic Training Staff o Direct and oversee media content (Instagram, Twitter, podcasts) for your program o Develop players to create collegiate playing opportunities at all levels o Create a program that is attractive to top student athletes in Southern California o Ability to build a developmental program for novice athletes if needed
