HIGH SCHOOL ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of a High School Principal, perform technical accounting and related statistical work in compiling, reviewing, maintaining and reporting financial data related to both ASB accounting and the high school site and department accounts. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Process ASB accounts payable invoices; code, review for accuracy, monitor timelines for applicable discounts, and post to computer producing computerized checks. E Prepare, review and post to computer ASB journal entry transactions between club accounts transferring income/expense related transactions. E Process ASB accounts receivable; receive money, write receipt, reconcile cash balances, prepare bank deposits, and code and post activity into the computer. E Provide for proper collection and accountability of monies received; prepare cash boxes for various school events; reconcile cash boxes and tickets, prepare deposit and post to accounts. E Prepare ASB financial reports using applicable software; evaluate financial condition of accounts utilizing financial reports. E Prepare, code, log and monitor ASB purchase orders; reconcile ASB bank statements. E Code, log, post, monitor and track high school departmental requisitions and purchase orders. E Code and review for accuracy and legitimacy of claim various revolving cash reimbursement and refund claims; prepare and issue revolving cash checks; submit monthly report to the District Office; reconcile bank statement. E Monitor and track site budget; review for accuracy; prepare report to District finance office of discrepancies, requesting corrections/adjustments. E Prepare journal entries and BARS to reflect budget transfers and revisions; abate clearing account reporting transfers to District Office; reconcile clearing account bank statement; code site time sheets. E Provide technical assistance to other employees regarding interpretation of laws, regulations, contracts, District policies, Education Codes and accounting procedures. Maintain, sell and distribute bus passes, issue temporary bus passes, football and CIF tickets, dance tickets and other activities. Perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Accounting, bookkeeping, budgeting principles, practices and procedures. Basic financial analysis. Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Operation of a computer terminal. ABILITY TO: Perform complex accounting and auditing work. Prepare, develop, monitor and maintain financial statements and reports. Operate office machines such as calculator and computer terminal. Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work cooperatively with others. Work independently with little direction. Meet schedules and time lines. Plan and organize work. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in accounting and four years accounting clerical experience. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Seeing to read, review and assure accuracy of financial statements and reports. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard. Sitting for extended periods of time.

* Current vacancy is 8 hours/day, 10 months per year Westview High School* Selection Procedure Applications will be screened, and those candidates whose backgrounds best match the requirements of the position will be invited to participate in a competitive examination process, which may include any combination of the following: Training & Experience evaluation (T&E), multiple-choice question test, job-related performance exercise, and technical/ oral appraisal interview. Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Director of the Personnel Commission. Candidates who pass all of the examination processes are ranked on an eligibility list according to their score(s). Selection for the position will be made from among the top three (3) ranks of candidates. The eligibility list will be used for hiring purposes in other vacancies in the same, or equivalent, job classification and will be active for six (6) months (Merit Rule 50.100.1).

Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in accounting and four years accounting clerical experience.
