Requirements / Qualifications

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chemistry Instructor located at our campus in Temecula, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks a Chemistry Instructor to teach and develop courses in Chemistry. This is a full-time tenure-track academic position. The ideal candidate will be skilled in generating student engagement in learning and will create welcoming learning environments that are equity-based and culturally affirming. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours are also required. Faculty are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus, off-campus, and online classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in chemistry (attach transcripts); OR 2. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry; AND A Master's degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry (attach transcripts); OR 3. The equivalent; AND 4. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph*** DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Recent (within the last 5 years) teaching experience in a variety of Chemistry courses at an accredited college or university 2. Interest and ability to engage in developing and assessing innovative and diverse approaches to learning that improve student retention and success, such as learning communities, distance education, supplemental instruction, embedded tutoring and evidence-based practices 3. Commitment to teaching laboratory skills through demonstrations of experimental techniques and student-centered interactions during both wet and dry labs 4. Demonstrated commitment to remain current and lead departments in diverse teaching methods and learning styles as applied to teaching chemistry
