12 month position, 260 paid days per year, M-F, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm with 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Hours will vary, some evenings & weekends are required as needed by the program.

Job Summary

Job Summary

Perform complex, responsible, and technical support functions relating to the Migrant Education Program identification, recruitment, determination of eligibility, and service delivery to students, families, and districts including: recruitment, coordination of health, support services, transitional services, instructional services, and parent involvement activities. Maintain and support the Migrant Student Information Network and other data and student information systems. Monitor progress and maintain student files.

Requirements / Qualifications

Required: 1. High school graduation or equivalent. 2. An AA degree (or equivalent) or passage of proficiency examination in compliance with Education Code and Every Student Succeeds Act. 3. One year experience working in community service programs or related fields. 4. Certification of Identification and Recruitment or willingness and ability to become certified within probationary period. 5. Ability to read, speak, and write in designated second language, as evidenced by SLOCOE bilingual exam. 6. First Aid and CPR certification (provided by SLOCOE) must be obtained within 130 days of employment. Desired: 1. AA degree in a related field. 2. College level coursework in education, sociology, or equivalent discipline.

This recruitment serves to fill a current vacancy and establish an eligibility list for future vacancies within 6 months. The current vacancy will serve the Migrant Education Program Region XVIII. The position is based in Lompoc and the training will be conducted in Lompoc, San Luis Obispo and Atascadero for at least the first six weeks. The employee will have access to drive the county van from Lompoc to the other training sites. The employee needs to be flexible to drive to anywhere in the region (Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties) via the county van. We do not have a regular schedule of travel per week. Instead, driving is based on the services and where our students are located that are being recruited. Employee should not mind driving and being gone for hours at a time. All applicants must meet minimum qualifications in order to be considered. Please review the job description carefully before applying to ensure you meet the job requirements. Selected candidates will be required to pass a bilingual exam (Spanish/English). SLOCOE does not participate in Social Security but contributes to PERS.
